Bale Apologizes

Everybody knows if you're truly sorry for something in Hollywood, you apologize right away. Well, Christian Bale chose today (4 days after the fact) to apologize for his now infamous verbal tirade directed toward a poor lighting guy on the set of his Terminator Salvation last July. Bale called in to the Kevin and Bean Show this morning to apologize. He said "I acted like a punk." Yeah, a big, f*cking punk and maybe a little like a f*cking amateur.

  1. I'd love to chime in here! First of all, I agree that he overreacted a bit. And I hate the idea that an actor runs the show of a movie. I mean why the hell didn't the director step in and take control of his shoot?

I would, however, like to say that Bale wasn't totally unjustified. Bale is a notorious method actor, and having crew move around the set like nothing is going on would be extremely irritating and unprofessional. In fact, I've worked on a few sets as both crew and an extra and have never seen anyone behave like the DP did (btw it wasn't a 'lighting guy," it was the Director of Photography!). Plus, it was indicated that this wasn't the first time this happened.

Again, I think that Christian Bale got a bit carried away. I also understand that as he was yelling, nobody did an effective job of diffusing the situation before he got too worked up. The DP was completely unprofessional, Bale might need to find ways to control his anger, and the Director is an amateur.

The event was definitely not as black and white of an issue as I've heard some bloggers analyze.
